A note about range closings We make every effort to complete the set up for indicated events as early as possible on the day prior to each event. We apologize to our members for any inconvenience this causes but, as always, safety comes first at Suffolk Archers. On the days the range is marked to be closed, when the work is completed and it is safe to resume shooting, a sign indicating that the work has been completed will be posted on the pavilion bulletin board. PLEASE CHECK TO BE CERTAIN THIS SIGN IS POSTED BEFORE YOU SHOOT ON THESE DAYS. YOU MAY ALSO CHECK WITH THE PERSON IN CHARGE TO DETERMINE IF SOME PART OF THE RANGE MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR SHOOTING, WHILE WORK CONTINUES ON ANOTHER PART.


FIELD TOURNAMENTS
Sunday, April 13*, 27; May 4, 18; June 1, 22, 29; July 6, 27; and August 3

Field Archery Tournaments at are open to the public as well as to all members of Suffolk Archers. This year's first Field Tournament on April 13 will be accompanied by a swap meet and archery flea market.

The 28-target Field Archery course is set up at regulation shooting distances of 20 feet to 80 yards as sanctioned by the National Field Archery Association. Tournaments are held on scheduled Sundays through the warmer months, but you can shoot for practice at any other time. Normally one to four arrows are shot at each target. A standardized scoring system is used at the tournaments and awards are given for archers of varying abilities.

August 3 is the Club's Field Archery Chmpionship consisting of 14 Field, 14 Hunter and 14 Animals.

THE KNOCK-A-BLOCK STUMP SHOOT
Sunday, July 13 • Rain or Shine

Shooting Fee
• Members: FREE
• Non-members: Over 18 ($20.00) • 13 to 17 ($5.00) • Under 13 (Free)
• Traditional bows only
• No Sights • No Compound Bows
• Longbows and Recurves shot with fingers only
• Judo type points ARE REQUIRED FOR SAFETY. Other types of points may disqualify you from the tournament! Check with officials before the shoot begins!
• NO SEPARATE CLASS for children or women.
• These are "match play" tournaments.
• Tournament is limited to 64 Archers
Although we have never had to turn anyone away, please be advised that we must not exceed 64 Archers. Registration will be on a "first come, first served" basis.

THE LONG ISLAND TRADITIONAL
Sunday, June 8
 

This tournament is open to the public as well as to all members of Suffolk Archers, but is limited to archers using only traditional equipment (recurves or long bows).

• Compete for Awards or shoot for Fun with friends - Your Choice!
Shooting Fee
• Members -- Free in all classes
• Non-members: Adult ($20) • Youth ($5) • PeeWee (Free)
• Classes: Adult -- 13 and older • Youth -- 7 thru 12 • PeeWee -- thru 6 years.

• TRADITIONAL BOWS ONLY
• No sights • No sight marks on bows • No stabilizers • No releases (triggers)
• No Compound bows
• Field points only
• Longbow Class: Laminated and self longbows, bush and flat bows.
Strings to touch limbs ONLY at nocks in strung position. Wood arrows only.
• Recurve Class: All Recurves and any Traditional Bow that does not meet
ALL longbow requirements will shoot in this classification. Non-wood
arrows and "stick-on" arrow rests are acceptable.
• NO SEPARATE CLASS for women
• Youth Class: Under 13. All rules and bow classifications apply.
• Food and beverages will be available.

FREE CLUB BBQ & Fun 3D Shoot
Sunday, July 20

Come join us at the range for a day of shooting and great BBQ! We will be using our BBQ "Cuban" box to prepare pulled pork, Turkey and chicken. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs will also be served. Soft Drinks will be available also. Go out shoot the 3D course and then relax with some great food, you can't beat the price either since it is FREE!

A great way to meet other members and their families in an informal  non-competitive environment.

Shooters and non-shooters are welcome to join the fun.
Alcohol is never allowed on the premises of Suffolk Archers.

The exact details will be published as we get closer to the 
event, but this is one you don't want to miss.  


BOW HUNTER RENDEZVOUS
Sunday, August 17

A field event designed to help new hunters gain the basic skills needed to be successful in the field, and to make experienced hunters even better.

Run by the Suffolk Archers Bow Hunting Committee, and taught by highly experienced bow hunters, participants can select from a wide variety of “hands-on field classes” covering such topics as tree stand selection and safety; tree stand placement; identifying animal gender and age; arrow placement; what to do (and not do) immediately after the shot; blood trailing; field dressing and carcass care; transporting game; butchering; identifying “hot spots;” reading the wind; compass navigation; GPS navigation; DEC rules and regulations; qualifying for the Suffolk Archers Deer Management Committee (SADMC); finding places to hunt; and much more.

All topics are tentative until the program is published in July, but this will be a feature rich event every bowhunting member of Suffolk Archers should attend.

Food and beverages will be available.

THE HUNTER STYLE 3D SHOOT
Sunday, August 24

This tournament is open to the public as well as to all members of Suffolk Archers, and may be shot with traditional or compound bows.

• 8:00 am Registration and Practice Opens
• 9:00 am Shoot Begins
• All shooters must finish and turn in score cards by 3:00pm.
Shooting Fee (Tournament and all day)
• Members: FREE
• Non-members: Over 18 ($20.00) • 13 to 17 ($5.00) • Under 13 (Free)
• All competitive shooters will be classified and assigned shooting groups.
• Those who wish to shoot just for fun can shoot with their friends. 
Fees still apply.
• No range finders or binoculars will be allowed.
• All groups will be a minimum of 3 and a max of 4 shooters.
• Food and beverages will be available.

THE SILVER ARROW HUNTING STYLE 3D SHOOT
Sunday, September 7

This tournament is open to the public as well as to all members of Suffolk Archers, and may be shot with traditional or compound bows not exceeding 80 lb draw weight.

• 8:00 am Registration and Practice opens.
• 9:00 am Shoot begins.
• All shooters must finish and turn in score cards by 3:00 pm.
Shooting Fee (tournament and all day)
• Members: FREE
• Non-members: Over 18 ($20.00) • 13 to 17 ($5.00) • Under 13 (Free)
• All competitive shooters will be classified and assigned shooting groups.
• All groups will be a minimum of 3 and a max of 5 shooters.
• Those who wish to shoot just for fun can shoot with their friends.  Fees still apply.
• Competitors can use binoculars, but range finders are NOT allowed.
• Food and beverages will be available.
